When Cambridge Enterprise needed examples of successful commercialisation projects for their new promotional video, it turned to Professor Jim Huntington and his X01 spin-off company. Jim Huntington, Professor of Molecular Haemostasis in the Department of Haematology, founded the company in 2013 in collaboration with Trevor Baglin of Cambridge University Hospitals. The company attracted $11m of investment following their invention of a first-in-class antithrombotic agent called ichorcumab that has the potential to prevent heart attack and stroke without causing bleeding. The company won the 2014 Business Weekly Startup of the Year Award and is exactly the sort commercial success that Cambridge Enterprise is hoping to repeat.
