The management and outcome of pregnancies in women with MPD’s is uncertain. In collaboration with the UK Obstetric Surveillance System (UKOSS) which was set up in to facilitate research into rare diseases or complications in pregnancy we are aiming to learn more and raise awareness in the obstetric community. The UKOSS system sends a regular “scorecard” to designated members of the obstetric team in every hospital in the UK. Currently they are collecting information about pregnancies affected by MPD or a possible MPD ie raised haemoglobin or platelet count, as well as other disorders for example sickle cell disease and stroke. This survey does not require ethics approval at individual sites. If you have a patient who might be suitable for the UKOSS survey or need information about management of pregnancy in women with MPDs please contact: Susan.Robinson@gstt.nhs.uk or Claire.Harrison@gstt.nhs.uk.
